In this month’s Advocacy Pillar meeting, we’re thrilled to welcome ARUP as our featured speaker to help us dive into the "envelope" section of the rebuilding guide—covering roofs, vents, exterior walls, and windows—through the lens of Southern California’s unique challenges, including drought, wildfires, earthquakes, and floods. We’ll explore what’s currently being recommended and invite discussion on any gaps or opportunities for improvement, with the goal of collaboratively drafting an addendum that reflects our shared values. We’ll also revisit our letter to the Board of Supervisors regarding CEQA reform and post-disaster rebuilding policies, discuss the geographic expansion of related executive orders, and call for streamlined permitting and regulatory relief for fire-affected communities. Finally, we’ll provide updates on the new Zoning Code in Los Angeles, highlighting how to use the web-based code to assess project feasibility under the latest guidelines.
