What is theAIASFV Fund?
The American Institute of Architects/ San Fernando Valley Fund is a designated charitable fund of the California Community Foundation. It has been established to create an endowment that will provide scholarships and other gifts to architectural students and architecture schools.
The Fund is an expression of the mission of the AIASFV to “promote the quality and diversity of the architectural profession and to improve the environment through fellowship, leadership, education, and interaction with our Community."
Members of the AIASFV Chapter and other community leaders concerned about the future of our built environment manage the Fund. Gifts to students and schools will acknowledge and encourage excellence in design and architectural education. Award recipients will be selected on the basis of need and academic achievement.

Why Create an Endowment Fund?
The AIA San Fernando Valley Chapter, although a small chapter, now gives annual scholarship and educational gifts that surpass those given by many larger Chapters. This proud tradition began in 1996 and to date has awarded scholarships to numerous students and has given gift awards of needed teaching equipment to our teaching institutions. The goal of the Fund is to create an endowment that will be self-sustaining and will provide an ever-increasing amount of money dedicated to the education of future architects in our community. The AIASFV Fund’s association with The California Community Foundation (a 501-C3 tax-exempt corporation for charitable giving) provides a mechanism for tax-exempt giving and for professional management of the Fund. Through this association, the endowment Fund’s assets will be able to grow safely and it will be possible to donate in-kind gifts such as equities and real property. If you would consider such a gift and would like more information, please contact the AIASFV Chapter office.
